"What Memories That Name Arouses!" |
|---|
This soft-back book of about 100
pages in A.4 format, is published by the author. It
recounts his experiences during 1951 in his first real job as a
young graduate engineer with A.F.N. Ltd (makers of Frazer Nash
Cars). Engine development, testing and tuning
was his prime occupation and this opened the way to visits to the
engine manufacturer (the Bristol Aeroplane Company Ltd.),
together with memorable trips to races such as the British Empire
Trophy, Le Mans and the T.T. at Dundrod.
There were problems,
triumphs and tragedies. These personal reminiscences
are augmented by a collection of post-war Frazer Nash sales
brochures, reports, data sheets and factory photos.
| This
inspired, self-produced book offers vivid insight into
life at a specialist maker in the early 50s.

Nash characters, production conditions and his

Company data , previously unpublished factory photos, and

...for anybody actively involved
with these marvellous cars, or indeed others using the
Bristol engine, this ...is a positive mine of
information. It is also, in its modest way, an important
historical document which constitutes one more step along
the way for a definitive history of one of the most
glorious eras of British motor racing when Frazer Nash
owners won the Targa Florio and scored sensational
results at Le Mans and in the Mille Miglia against
formidable factory-funded opposition. DEB (The Automobile) |
There can be no
person in the ownership of a Bristol engine who should
not read this publication. It is full of information
about the standards of engineering used by BMW, Bristol
and AFN . Amazing value and very strongly recommended...
